  It is pretty picturesque and cute. Food is the cross you'd expect between German and French cuisine. All of the buildings are of the tudor style but painted bright colours.
  Colmar is really nice and not as touristy as, say Strassbourg — though that may have changed. I haven't been in twenty years or so.
  There's a saying down there which goes: "Speak French to the people and German to the animals."
