I think you get the vschost.exe alert if you have a service pack below the 2nd one. That's what I had too. It automaticaly enters your comp as soon as it learns your IP number that's it.
It's a good thing that they sent such a mild virus as a warning, anyone with real malicious intentions could've done serious damage, since the virus remains even after reformating your entire hard drive unless you download the patch and it can take complete control of your comp.
This is no big deal for personal comps, but imagine if it shut down whole businesses and such.
