And i think it's infinitley appropriate to point out the hypocrisy of a man whose been wined and dined on 24 courses in a day, whilst he lectures his people to waste less food.
How the fuck is THAT distracting from the issue/wider debate?
I'm under no illusion that the G8 has any responsibility for fixing the world's problems, and nor do i call on them to do so. The group was founded in 1973 following the Arab oil embargo and the first global oil crisis.
The whole point of the group was for the world's super-rich to come together and figure out how they can defend their priveleged countries against all the tragedies and crisis that befall the poorer world.
And in that they do a great job. Best of luck to them.
What i wanna know is, that when these same leaders talk about "eradicating poverty in Africa" and "wiping out hunger", and yet meet annually to safe-guard their own club and to bunker-down - where do WE draw the line?
Not that i give a shit, but in the times that we live and the radical new direction that they keep promising... i think its about fucking time they delivered.
