  In all seriousness then Spookytim (to avoid you thinking I'm trolling), eating a humble meal would have been a nice symbolic gesture - I agree. But in my mind, we have far too many symbolic gestures and not enough real ones from our leaders. I'd rather be concerned with the lack of the latter.
