I agree with your comments about The Guardian.
You seem to be saying however that you don't feel there is any problem with what they ate on the basis that they are rich people and therefor ethey can eat expensive food.
I may have misunderstood your point completely Moth but that's what I assume you mean when you say:
"It's a non-story though. They ARE rich. I'm rich compared to the starving masses"
But if that is what you meant, aren't you assuming that they paid for the meal? They didn't pay for the meal. That's the problem here... its the privelidged few dining out on the taxpayer's money while they discuss the global food crisis. Its just not very honourable is it? It has no integrity, no humility, it doesn't suggest they are leading by example does it.
And as for not caring about what they eat, but caring about what they do... what do they ever do? and what do you think they'll do this time round?
Gordon Brown is urging people to be less wasteful with their food. Did we pay for a top japanese chef to prepare ethically indulgent 'amuse bouches' so that Gordon brown can tell us all to be more respourceful with our grocery scraps?
"Let them eat cake" springs to mind here.
