i buy my ram seperately and it works perfectly as well.
Some people are afraid to open the backside [you said rape] of a computer, and they get taxed for it.
Why vent about apple when you are very aware about the possible solutions?
If Apple really wanted to be a dick they would use a proprietary form of ram and then you might have something to bitch about.
Buy your apple overseas and you will get the cost of the original RAM knocked off the price when you decide to upgrade using another brand of ram....yeah, so your not stuck with or had to pay for two 256 mb boards.
