think of it this way. They just didn't want to waist anyones time. They know you'll never take the $$$ they offer. Think of it as a compliment to your work.
Biggest problem I've always had with any freelance stuff is money. Clients want a lot of cool stuff, but no money to pay for it. And the recent trend is the clients with no money are the biggest pains in the ass.
Treat the clients that pay on time and understand time = money well and they will always be your clients. Word of mouth is the best advertising, specially from a very happy client.
