I remember taking a road trip to see some regional theater show out in Chilicothe Ohio a few years back. After watching the performance I remarked to my friend, who was dating a cast member, "Is it just me, or was everyone kinda acting like William Shatner?" He agreed.
At a cast get together later I repeated my remark to a few members of the cast. They chuckled and told me to follow them. They led me to the Directors room, where the guy had, no shit, a full on Shatner Shrine, with a giant poster, a few busts, and candles all over the place of Shatner. They said during rehearsals he would ask the actors, "How do you think Bill would do it? Can we try it like that, hmmmm?"
I tracked down the director and bought him drinks all night and he had no clue why.
True story.
