speaking from experience.
I was sick to the back teeth of web design 3 years ago, so I travelled for a bit, worked in Australia as a Digital Art Director for a couple of big agencies. Travelled a bit afterwards too.
I quickly realised (with a bit of perspective) that what the problem was, was just doing 4 month websites that sapped by enthusiasm.
It was the company not the job. I really enjoy working in the big ad agency environment now. I find I am really enjoying my work and as a result i'm producing better work, i get to have input into tv, radio, print as well as web.
Also Ad agencies pay a lot more. I'm earning somewhere around 50k in London, and you can see that if I work hard I'll get paid more, and I can see job positions above me to aim for, which for me is always important.
I was going to do house rennovations or importing and exporting but once I started doing that, I realised I love designing and being creative. I get a real kick out of it, especially as I am getting paid more :)
Grass isn't always greener....
not sure there was any advice there.... :)
