what it is in an outward manifestation of their pain. you see, their "shit" is all "torn up" because their fathers didn't love them enough, and girls think their weird, and the local comic book store closed, and so on.
can you imagine their pain? can you truely feel it? it's their way of tell you "i am really dark and brooding because i am sad all the time." they can say all that with nothing more then a dirty trench coat they inherited from their siblings.
