    "EVERYONE PLEASE......get paid in stages......it ensures that you do a little work and get paid for it and don't do any more work for that client until you get paid for the work already done and if they don't pay you then you only spent a fraction of the time on the project and not several hours and/or months.

    Personally, I write into my contracts that I get paid 50% upon client receipt of 1st round comps and then the other 50% upon completion of the project."

    I'm doing a quick rededsign of someone's site - should be a 2 week project or something on the side (not 2 weeks, 8 hours per day, 5 days a week) for $400. Like Designaked, when prices were discussed, I said I don't start work until 1/2 of the money is paid upfront through paypal. Once I see the $ in the account, I start work. Upon completion, I show him screenshots/etc of it to make sure he likes it - he sends the 2nd half of the $. Once again, soon as I see the $ in the account, I upload.

    Simple as that.
