Not to completely debunk your comment, but the same happens the other way around in their media. Besides a lot more die of dehydration and starvation every day, when do you read about those people. 7000+ die in mining accidents in China alone each year, you don't hear much about them too. The media works on hypes, so a news item has to have some hype-potential to be news worthy. For instance Aruba was flooded with journalists because a single US girl was missing, although a tragedy, it does not justify the amount of coverage in light of all the other terrible things that are going on in the world.
