In Norway, where I live, there is only one company that can recover data from broken drives and they charge between 3000 and 4000 euro for the job. They charge 450 euro to check if there´s possible to recover anything. But they told my colleague that if the reader arm had fallen down on the disk, it would be all gone, so I would be most cautious if I was hearing scratchy-like noises.
