I went to summer camp at Lake Texoma (Texas) for seven summers when I was a kid. Best times of my life. It was a Lutheran camp associated with the church I went to.
First four summers were in cabins, last three were hiking and camping out, building tents, fires, canoeing, wearing camo face paint and pulling awesome raids at night.
Among my memories:
Watching a kid skip a rock across the swimming area right into another kid's eye, bursting it into a bloody mess in an instant.
Another kid stepping on a nail in the swilling area and walking out of the water with a 2x4 stuck to his foot.
Catching a 6' black snake for the snakehouse we rebuilt.
Throwing dirty skidmarked underwear in the bunk of another camper, and being forced to clean an entire restroom as punishment.
Breaking into the girls bathroom at night and sloshing 75 gallons of fake blood everywhere, Carrie style.
