After, I don't know how long, i decided to stop watching the news, simply because every news story seems to be about corruptions, shootings, stabbings, bombings - basically people being killed. All this was bringing me down, so decided to cut the news (on and offline) out of my life. Have done so for past 3 months and I feel much better mentally and physically. News - who needs it?

Today is Memorial Day as well, it's time to be grateful that we all live, at this moment in the most peaceful time in all of recorded History.

My gf did the same, she was too affected by the news so she decided to not check em anymore.
I can't totally disagree with that even if I think its important to know whats happening around us. But at the same time, its always the same thing in the news... some topics just keep coming back years after years and its always the same story.
Watching the news is like having someone saying to your face everyday that you're being fucked by everything from everywhere and you can do nothing about it (politics) that you may get killed in your next commute to work (terrorism) and that tomorrow its gonna rain again. Its a lot of negativity.
- * can't do nothing about itBennn
- i think news is history recording itself and that you can't do anything about it is because it broadcasts the false hope that you can sense it all.sted
- sorry so broadcasts whatever emotion can be associated to an event.sted
- and even down to the intense way the say thingsSquiddy

It's obviously good to keep up with current world affairs but to actually sit and watch the news regularly, in my useless opinion, is absolutely, utterly bonkers.
