Im coming over to New York next week for conference.99u. Im over from Tuesday till Saturday. Could any one recommend the best places to check out Museums / Gallery's places to eat?
There is so much online is a bit over whelming and I want to make the most of the time I have there. So any good local advice would be really appreciated :)
Thanks Matt

I wouldn't even bother with museums and galleries if I was only in NY for a weekend - instead I'd ask about areas generally and locally-beloved eateries and just spend the weekend taking the actual city in.
I'm jealous. I've yet to go to NY :(
- I have a week pretty much so hopefully ill be able to get as much in as possiblemattwrightgd
- Detritus you are right though. You can easily waste best part of a day at Met and Natural History. Just do MoMA and experience the city...microkorg
- ... by walking around, go to nice eateries, go into expensive shops, get to the cool neighbourhoods.microkorg

Yea - I'd probably recommend eating/drinking your way through NYC. Depending on your budget, I have a bunch of recommendations
But - we're supposed to have a beautiful spring week next week, so head over to the Whitney Museum, then take a stroll north along the Highliine (old elevated subway line that's now a park/public space).
- +1 for the HighlineGordy22
- Good half day here!monospaced
- Yeah highline is cool. See if you can spot any open air junk/antique markets. Always fascinatingmicrokorg

Idk about skipping museums all together. Maybe just go to The Met?
- One day, start from the tip of Manhattan by World Trade Memorial, walk all the way up to museum mile in Central Park, and bring your camera.robotron3k
- a rare moment I agree with Robo, I did this a few times, both ways. As a tourist NYC is so fantastic to walk.fadein11
- As a local I concur. I do this with my family whenever I can.monospaced

Definitely go see a late set at the Comedy Cellar, where you can eat and drink before and after the show. Great area to people watch and have a good time just being out.
Get some dumplings or similar down in Chinatown, which is walking distance from the courthouse area and little Italy. Walk through little Italy for sure, but I cannot in good faith recommend any restaurants there. Maybe someone else here can.
Stop by South St Seaport, grab a beer and pretzel on Stone St downtown. Stroll through Battery Park and get a peek at the Statue of Liberty from there. Maybe take the Staten Island ferry just to get out on th water. It’s a free round trip and you can buy beer on board.
If I think of more random little things I’ll toss me out here. Enjoy.
- Eat drink in the area around the comedy cellar, not in it :)monospaced
- Why downvote this? These are all great suggestions from a local.monospaced
- Probably some loser who doesn’t like nyc who downvotes this. Get a life.monospaced
- Stone St would be perfect if you're exploring the financial district - outdoor restaurants blend into each other - but can be packed with bros.bulletfactory
- Beats the hell out of tourist areas IMO. At least the bros are locals. ;)monospaced
- Vanessa's? gotta give him a spot mononotype
- Didn’t you just tell him to visit Brooklyn? LOLmonospaced
