I need to create a portal for people who have attended a corporate training course. There will be downloadable PPTs, video, polls and forms to complete etc.
Budget dictates I use something off the shelf.
Any recommendations?

I am an eLearning expert apparently. They're all shite, make a static page and pop it on a web server.
Or whichever VLE you can deploy quickest, much of a muchness for this sort of thing Canvas is marginally nicer looking out of the box.
- eLearning platforms are all directed towards rapid development of course content by academic staff. and all the useful features for teaching are outsidekingsteven
- your remit for this project. it is a world void of design and an absolute pain in the ass if your not deploying courses in bulk. stay away from VLEs if possiblekingsteven
- i even develop standalone sites as parts of courses that exist within VLEs as they are so much easier to develop, and the students like them more!kingsteven

Moodle is grand. Typically the best way of displaying resources is on the course page as downloadable pdf files or moodle books.
The books are quite good because you can just zip and upload html files with images and it'll re-link them and keep any scripts you may have in there... but you'll need to inline all your styles with emogrifier or something first if you want any level of control over the styling.

As I mentioned though all VLEs typically only get really useful (over any other kind of CMS site building tool) when you use the student collaboration features/ assignment management/ marking groups etc. So you will just be scratching the surface.
- I just put together a masters course with 30 modules/ 6-9 books per module. did all the dev locally and wrote a compiler to make zips for upload...kingsteven
- It's okay now as I'm used to it but it can be really frustrating to navigate if you don't know your way round.kingsteven

wp themes?
https://themeforest.net/item/aca…- < if you can find something like this that fits your needs wp is kinda perfect.kingsteven
- a lot of the moodle extensions are old and have a very academic/ literary vibe. it is kinda soul destroying to use if you like design.kingsteven
