Upgraded last week and in the past two days it's decided to shut down/go into a deep sleep overnight, even giving me "your computer shut down because reasons" dialogue, and it's really sluggish to boot after.
Anyone else?
- if you haven't already, check:
System Prefs > Energy Saver > Schedule
also, spotlight takes FOREVER to index after an upgradeGnash - Already checked that, nothing was set to turn off.i_monk
- is Power Nap enabled? turn off if it isGnash
- do an SMC & NVRAM reset. the slowdown may be Vcard related.
Also, may want to try tuning off Hibernation in terminalGnash - https://computers.tu…Gnash
- "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0"
(no quotes)Gnash - Turning off the password prompt that kicks in after the screen sleeps fixed it. I guess innovation doesn't sleep after all.i_monk
- i read about there being an issue with TimeMachine and sleep access. something about permissions. maybe related. oddGnash

Fuck that. Seems like things are finally all working okay right now.

High Sierra locks away usr/bin folder so if you're working with brew or anything remotely connected to dev stuff then you're fucked as soon as you want to update something.
- Use https://nektony.com/….ideaist
- lol this does not work and the new architecture behind High Sierra prevents exactly what this tool claims to domekk
- The locking away is Finder-specific. I can use a tool like Panic's Transmit to access usr/bin just fine. Beyond that the permissions would need to be altered.evilpeacock
- try updating homebrewmekk
- I meant usr/local srymekk
- why not try dr.cleaner, the free mac cleaner

starting to see the glitches / areas of slowdown... late 2013 MBP used to scream... Updated Adobe package to CC 2018... zzzzz.
...this blows :/
- I've updated and my oldish imac performance seems better. did it slow down after CC 2018 update?fadein11

- certain adobe apps have just become a touch glitchy / finicky... I get the pinwheel quite often in Illustrator and PS during certain functions I use...PonyBoy
- ... often (eg—anything from 'save for web' to pathfinder actions in Illustrator)PonyBoy
- I haven't updated to CC 2018 so I will hold fire on thatfadein11
- Spinning drive or SSD? If spinning, put in a SSD most of your issues will go away...ArmandoEstrada

2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

Just a note: a couple of other app updates (I updated fontXplorer and Fetch amongst other things)...PonyBoy - ... seems to be helping out. (I have these apps running aside adobe etc as I work)... soooo—update all your other shit if updates are available... seems to helpPonyBoy

- I did have some weird performance after HS 10.13.2 upgrade from Sierra; Next morning everything was faster, apps that locked up were fine, etc.evilpeacock
- I think there is a slow background index or AFP conversion/diagnosti... that runs even long after the upgrade is booted and running. Once done things perk up.evilpeacock
- It can also help to re-run the Combo updater after running the full update. This will catch things that sometimes go wonky (usually third-party software).evilpeacock
- thanks for the heads up ponyGuyFawkes

Apple is slowing down older Mac's with your broken and useless High Sierra upgrades, just like their iPhones!
GO FUCK YOURSELF APPLE!
- comma or nah?doesnotexist
- Bugs aside, it's faster for many things on my older hardware.evilpeacock
- same evil, my oldish imac is definitely faster now.fadein11

canon non longer supports my printer in the upgrade. need to dual boot to have it. i'm guessing parallels is my best option?
- odd, there may be a generic driver that would get it working.Gnash
- yeah, i've been looking. i'm quite surprised. nice high end 13x19 printerjaylarson
- Try Gutenprint, it is an opensource print driver that covers a huge amount of older printers.

Weird, I've had no problems to speak of since updating to High Sierra. Upgrading to CC 2018 gave me no problems, either, and I'm running a mid-2014 MBP.

0 issues here since installing on day 1 for CC, Coding applications, etc. NOT using any obscure video/3d software though; hear their are some incompatibilities...
...Pretty neat the swicth to AFP for "High Sierra"; applications (and games) will now be cross platform from desktop to mobile and so fourth.
Godspeed CyBrainX!!!

PHOTOSHOP IS SLOW AS FUCK. Mind you i am running a 2013 MBP
- It seems to launch slower but is otherwise the same for me on a 2010 Mac Pro. I'm running SSD for OS/boot volume and scratch disk with a Radeon RX 580 8GB GPU.evilpeacock

macOS High Sierra must be worst update I have ever had: Mail gives me tons of issues, Photoshop won't come back after hiding it, etc etc..
- CyBrainX2
Here's a list of issues. The one that will affect most of us here is Illustrator CC2017.
