Who uses this php shortcut. I have gotten pretty accustomed to it over the years and it makes it quicker to code. Bad practice?

i ran into issue one time where the server we migrated a site over to didn't like that shortcut and made us find them all and replace. So after that i just keep using echo cause what can go wrong will go wrong and i don't want to fix it.

All servers do not support short tags. They require php.ini to have short_open_tag = On
- yeah. I've never run into any issues, but someone just brought that up to me.dbloc

The tag <?= is always available regardless of the short_open_tag ini setting since php 5.4 which came out in March 2012. You should absolutely be using a newer version of php by now.
