Wedding color Champange

I'm going to be photographing my cousins wedding in about 2 months and I have an idea to spin off, but I'm having problems with trying to convey this idea to a storyboard to work of for the photoshoot.

    The Idea
The idea is simple but I think powerful. I want the wedding photos to tell the story of the importance of family to thier 24 year old child (who is 2 at the time).

    The perferred result
I want to create a simple story line that can be put into a photobook to print with the idea as the silver lining of the book. I want the book to have really aged as he sees the book at 24 years old for the first time again.

    Why 24 years?
I belive that at the age of 24 is the true age of wisdom and adulthood but also understanding. It is the first time you see an old movie again with a complete new set of eyes.

    The problem
What type of photographic solutions are there to convey "the importance of family" and like "strength in numbers" and "you are not alone" in one single storyboard of max 24 exposions?

    The color
The color champagne is the primary over all color of the entire wedding witch will be the base of the photoshoot.

The whole 24 thing sounds important to you, but it might be completely aribtrary and meaningless to your cousin and his son, who I think I understand is 2 at the moment. Honestly, I would talk this through with your cousin first before committing to the concept and forcing storyboards. The fact that you're practically married to the idea and yet have not one of the 24 shots ideated is a red flag.

For weddings, get to know the couple and do what they want, what makes sense for them. Happy Sunday.

    • I like 23. Sounds unique. 24 sounds arbitrary. For me, 19 was a good year.formed

Thank you for your input @monospaced :)

I'm not married to the idea. It's just one of many but one that I thought could be interesting to them as a starting point. But as you say it could be a bit too personal, if I understand correctly what you are trying to point out.

I choose the 24 year old thing from a statistical guess from our family past. We lived together for a relatively long period of time.

I really can't tell if this is serious or not. "24" sounds like Keifer Sutherland should be showing up.

I'd go with some Notebook-ish thing if you want to do this. It's about the couple starting a life together, not about their kid looking back at their wedding once they've moved on and he's going through old boxes.

Honestly, I don't see how you can pull this off. You'd need a super strong story, not just an arbitrary future date. What I picture is Hollywood-aged actors, but that has nothing to do with their celebration of TODAY, not decades away.

Suggestion: if you want to do some time traveling, think about what their lives are going to be about TOGETHER. Go shoot them in a studio and composite them all over the world, traveling, experiencing life together. add in some time travel stuff - like an ambiguous future (where you can tell they are older but not full makeup stuff) but one that is fun and full of possibilities.

Color: this also seems arbitrary, like a IG filter (please don't). I've seen so many wedding "stylized" with colors. Sometimes it's ok, but it'll date the photos instantly. Be careful. Colors can mean a lot or also be arbitrary.

That would be a TON of work, you'd have to have superb editing skills, etc. (to pull off compositing)

MOST IMPORTANT: you need to talk to you cousin, this all would have to go along with their wedding theme meticulously. If "time" is part of the theme, then you are good, if it's not, then you'll be layering something that has nothing to do with them and their wedding.

Quick search for "Time Travel Wedding". This would be the simpler version (Google has tons of images):

Cheers, my 2 cents. Just remember it's about the couple and what is important to them.

    • 24 years is adulthood - it is my own opinion not a law or anything else. It is based on my experience :)Diaz
    • How are you charging for this art direction? lolmonospaced
    • People get paid for that?! Damn, I need to re-evaluate life.formed

    Thank you @formed and @monospaced :)

I see your point and agree totally. My idea was more subtle than it comes across, now that I read it thougth again :)

This is of course something I would discuss with them first, but I see the problem with the idea already. My internal monologue fooled me... :)

I will get more input from them and come up with something better.

The color Champange is actually something she told me the wedding will be based on.

    • So find out the meaning behind the color - her meaning. You could look up the history of the color, how it's made, etc.formed
    • Great idea! :)Diaz

"I belive that at the age of 24 is the true age of wisdom and adulthood but also understanding"

    I disagree, vehemently.

    • Then we disagree on that point on personal opinion, which is ok :)Diaz
    • In the aboriginal culture you're not considered an adult until you reach 50. That's far more reasonable to me than 24set
    • 34 is more accuratefourth
    • i totally disagree tooBennn
    • Pfft. Some dumbass in their 20's would say that.cannonball1978
