No spoilers - best time to go for a piss in the film:

It's good. Really good.
Though the score is no Vangelis - generic Hans Zimmer instead. They make up for it with insane sound design and atmosphere... almost.
The style is a bit flat n dead as well - feels like nothing exists beyond the edges of the frame. That comment about wardrobe is spot on, bland and uninspired. There's a lot of those odd choices.
But it's an amazing film. I could nitpick it to death only due to being a sequel to one of the greats.
ps - AVOID any review or spoiler. It's a very simple (yet great) story, and can be spoilt in about three words.

Thought it was awesome. They created an original story which in turn helps this film hold its own rather than prop itself on the original. Liked the soundtrack was more atmospheric though, bit like zimmers work on Dunkirk, you can tell these were basically written back to back, possibly this first. It lacked though some of those amazing melodies from the original soundtrack, memories or green. I think he needed to invest more time on these soundtracks he’s talented enough to start a clean slate rather than use the source material from Vangelis, but that migh have been the studios call.
Not too many things I didn’t like *SPOILERS!!!!*
Product placement was made too obvious two particular scenes, peugot and Sony, the camara puts the brand in shot, not neccesary. When they took Deckard to their leader... felt like a James Bond movie. Jared Leto also acting like a fucking Bond villain didn’t help. I think they could have edited this film down to 2 hours removed most of Jared Leto and taken out the meet the replicant republic front, could have been executed better.
These are small details, I think the director might have stripped some of those back, wondering if this was a studio call, let’s not forget, the original (before the edits) was not perfect, in fact it bombed out I believe on its original release.

wouldn't mind a spoiler-free review from someone else who wasn't a fan of the first one (sorry)

Holy shit it's a marathon!

I was really pleased that this film was able to be its own thing, without obvious studio interference. So tired of obvious fanboy masturbation of starwars (hey look the new one also has darth vader and the millennium falcon!).
Looks great, stands on its own but also builds on the story from the first. Amazing atmospheric scenes and mood. Having just watched the first one in the theater last week, I might like this one more.

Rewatched the original last night with my wife as she has decided she wants to see the new one and couldn't remember the old.
comment at the end..
“I remember bladerunner being more like Tron meets Braveheart”

Saw it on the giant IMAX at Navy Pier. Loudest movie I've ever seen in my life. It was awesome.

Not seen many negative reviews of this, even though I loved the film myself, here's one from a somewhat respected film review magazine: http://lwlies.com/reviews/blade-…

WOW.
This is a legitimately good film. In some ways better than the original.
- Not that we need to compare. They're 30 years apart, the entire language and culture of film is different now.nb

first off, not a fan of the original, but perhaps could try rewatching it
this film is the type that will come to mind when i think of a cinematic experience. i didn't care much for the characters but i was intrigued by them. the film took me somewhere and i was fascinated everywhere i went.
somehow harrison ford felt too much like harrison ford in most recent films with his awkward frame protruding through his heather grey gap t-shirt (seriously wardrobe???), so his entrance pulled me out of the experience momentarily, but it was really only a sensory experience I'd latched on to so it wasn't jarring.
one thing i was impressed by was the cgi of the girl. there were only minor tells (apart from the obvious), but compared to the work in star wars this was near perfection.
rating: would netflix again one rainy lazy sunday afternoon or have on in the background while working (insert shrug emoji).
- CGI of which girl??
The giant naked hologram?Ramanisky2 - sorry, cgi remake (was trying to avoid spoilers)SteveJobs
