So I have been making a few 650x650 movies in AE...
A movie with a client logo over the top.
I export it to encoder.
I email the movie to myself.
I do a new instagram post.I feel like the logo isn't crisp...
I am a total noob to AE.
Can you suggest export settings please?
Mant thanks

Render movie as either animation or prores compression (movietitle.mov) .. Import file into either encoder or handbreak and encode as an mp4 file with maybe 5,000 to 10,000 bit rate ... I usually just post the mp4 to my Dropbox folder and use my iPhone Dropbox app to save to my phones photo library and then upload it to Instagram. Hope this word salad make sense. :)

Also is the logo crisp in your original rendered movie ..
If you open it in QuickTime does it look good ??
Not the mp4 but the original .mov file.

all that, and if it is all good, then you could try other export settings.
I've used Miro converter for web video, low bitrate stuff.. And it does a good job converting graphics and animation with less compression glitches.
it's default settings is what you're looking for.
if you want to use encoder, just make sure the Profile is set to Baseline, that's the lowest encoder setting and you wanna use it because it plays well on most mobile phones

Could be Instagram over-compressing your video. With images, you need to have proper size and compression, otherwise Instagram resaves with brutal settings. Maybe something similar is happening with your video? Try a few different bitrates and see if you can find their sweet spot
