I need another keyboard - fucked up my fourth (fifth..?) Apple keyboard recently (this time the keys N H Y 6 simply stopped working one day, midst-sentence - I assume this was something to do with the ba5hing I gave it a few months beforehand, where I bent it a ..er.. 'little').
I'm probably just going to buy yet another Apple one, because although I'm a PC, they're darned good.
Just on the off-chance - any of you lot got a recommendation for a low-profile keyboard that might not be quite as expensive as the Mac one? I'm assuming I'll break the next one too, and £40 a pop is a little rich for something that I appear to view as apparently disposable.
I'm not after a high-key'd long-travel keyboard, so none of those fancy Cherry key things. Something I can type quickly on and not move my knuckles too much...
Thanks!
xps. QBN - 'ba5h' is a word as well as some dick's surname, you know? Took me bloody ages to find out which word was denied because of 'the nature of its content'!

This is the first time I've heard of someone using Apple keyboards with PC's. I use a PC keyboard/mouse with Apple computers because I fukin hate Apple's mouse and keyboard.
- I really like the Apple keyboards - low travel, super easy to type and work with (imho, obv!). Currently on some old Dell keyboard and it's driving me nuts.detritus
- ...also, and more importantly - the Apple boards have the 'Start' key next to the Space, keeping the ctrl/shift/alt cluster free of stupid fingers...detritus

I've seen aluminum Apple keyboard clones out there that are cheaper, but honestly, not by much and the build quality will always be questionable. You must have some heavy fingers haha.
- I have dainty little gay-child fingers, but a bit of a bad temper. Also, i use them in a hands-on studio, so have spilt plastic-weld, cider and other shit on...detritus

check aliexpress for the keyboard you want. they probably have it for cheap, they produce the stuff anyway, so get the ware direct from the source.

I'm looking for a new keyboard for PC, and mouse / trackpad. Doesn't have to be bluetooth, but if wireless it does (don't want a dongle!). Any suggestions?

I destroyed an expensive Logitech keyboard with backlight etc a 2 months ago and because I needed a new one right now just went out and bought the cheapest I could find: Cherry Stream 3.0
I'm surprised, buttons have nice grip, it's quiet, calm design. I wouldn't say I love it but its way better than expected.
- Cherry as in the company that makes Cherry switches? Does this have low-travel keys? I ask as.. I need another keyboard again :|detritus
- It's a classic rubberdome with those chunky buttons laptops had in 2010mekk
- and yes, they also make mech keyboardsmekk
- Oh, I have this one - well, I don't use it now. It was cheap w/. a mouse when I built my PC - it's just like a laptop keyboard, low travel, low 'clack'.face_melter
- funnily, I just bought this one again just yesterday, I had it before and the 'c' broke down... I like this keyboard a lot, too.SimonFFM

- Ooh, that's quite pretty, although not enough space to differentiate cursors and number pad - also suffers stupid Windows button in between alt + ctrl.detritus
- ..oh, and it's wireless? Boo.
Thanks tho! :)detritus - did you know that the windows button does more than popping up the start menu?mekk
- Looks tidy, but now i'm used to using my mechanical one :/face_melter
- Aye, mekk - I've been using computers for 33 years now. My problem is that the Start key gets in the way of alt/ctrl/shift key combos in applications.detritus

- Nice. I hate that number pad, makes you work to the left all the time! Gonna get one of these!formed
- If your in the uk get it second hand on webuy.comtrooperbill
- No keypad. No sale. Especially if you work in After Effects.CyBrainX

- Nice! Although: Logitech. Does it require the installation of lots of otherwise pointless apps/drivers and task bar-residing bullshit? (re: Windows)detritus
- That solves my main bugbear with wireless stuff - Yet More Batteries to Forget About 'til it's too late :)detritus
- I had this but it kept disappearing and then stopped working. Wireless with a usb dingle. Solar panels work quite well though.Fax_Benson
- it's pretty bigFax_Benson
- It's a little taller than a standard full width apple keyboard. It requires a dongle, but I've never had connection issues with it.Centigrade
- And it does require a piece of software that gets added to the system prefs.Centigrade
- I use Bluetooth connection. haven't had drops at all. although it does take 3 seconds to wake up from sleep mode.pango

I was in the exact same position as you, loads of broken Apple aluminium keyboards on windows. After much research, I landed on this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microso…
It is plastic, but it feels really high quality, it's very well made and I'd go as far as saying its actually slightly nicer to type on. The body has a sort of rubberised finish, the keys feel like better quality plastic than that on an apple keyboard.
I didn't need the mouse but now I have a spare just in case :)

- No keypad, too high finger travel. Thanks though :)
Is there a hardcore version of this?
One that doesn't have any key labels?detritus - https://mechanicalke…

- Why do they ever make keyboards without number pads?CyBrainX
- To make them smaller.palimpsest
- Why do they ever make keyboards with a number pad? Who uses a number pad? Certainly not me, nor would I buy anything with a number pad.formed

How about this one. My current one is only a year old and many of the letters on the keys have worn off. I need it to be for Windows and have a number pad.
