Does this exist? I am looking for someone to help with planning a fairly large renovation. Well, it might not need to be huge but I think it will be.
I've had pretty limited luck locally, with referrals and searching the interwebs. I did find an online service that 'matched' you with a designer but it had no contact information that I could find and looked like it was only for the US (I'm in Canada).

Really? Didn't think it was this hard. Don't meet a lot of them, but I would say about half of the interior designers I meet in Vancity work for themselves.
If you live in a smaller city then yeah it's possible it could be hard to find what you are looking for.

You could check on http://houzz.com for designers. It's like Be Hance but for home design.

Interior design like cabinets, counters, kitchen, mouldings, etc?

It shouldn't be difficult to find someone, unless by "freelance" you mean "cheap".
Depends on if you are looking for just someone to pic colors/furniture or an actual interior designer (vs. decorator).

I didn't realize houzz had a directory with reviews. That's exactly what I need. Looking for someone to re-plan the space so it's more functional, not pick curtains for me.
- Isn't that an architect?detritus
- A 'real' interior design can do that, half their education is the same as an architects (I am an architect)formed
- ^^^ Did not know that. Always thought it was picking curtains and shit.section_014

Look for advertising stylists, a lot of them do interior design.

I do interior design for photo shootings. But you're located in Canada, right?

I was actually talking to someone in Vancouver recently who does this exact thing. They're a husband and wife team of industrial designers focused on space planning and ergonomics. I believe they're pretty reasonable cost-wise as well.
