Hi all,
I annoyingly have to replace all the default swatches and symbols when starting on a new project in AI.
I have sped things up by saving a blank symbol and swatches file then loading it in each time I open AI, however, was just wondering if it is possible to have the empty symbols/swatches the default, just to save a bit of time?

there used to be a file buried in the illustrator folder (or maybe prefs) that contained all the swatches. If you duplicate it and rename the copy (so you could revert if necessary) you can then make what ever swatches you want.

cheers bud, think this might do it:

Have you made a template?
Make up a document how you want, including swatches, then save as template (.ait).
You can even set default fonts and things like that too, if you dig deep enough.

All you do is set it up how you want it without a document open. Quit and restart and those become the defaults. Save the workspace too. Cheers.
