Link me to a good "How To" that's clean and quick! Please?

Lynda.com's got some long drawn out stuff for larger projects.

What kind of template? The best how-to I can provide is to set your margins, columns and gutters right off the bat, and work from a couple of horizontals. That applies to just about anything.

    Tx! mono

The template work is so basic I feel ridiculous for asking. I have yet to do a search on Youtube, just lazy and leaning on QBN to be honest.

Just setting up the Master Doc for a client, sizing and leading for Bullet pts, Body copy layout, call-out sections and footer. Nothing too big. They will take over the doc and import their text. I've never done it before but I'm almost certain it's really easy.

Also, who the hell down voted mono's reply?! Upvoted.

Is this a book or magazine, a handout, brochure, poster? Find a good example in the real world and work from there for margins.

Use the Story palette to set nice optical margin alignment for type. Bullet points suck, so minimize when possible and I recommend a custom bullet, and about 50% extra leading between them.

Call-outs can be done a million different ways. Keep it simple with a different weight/color/size, or a contrasting/complementing typeface. Try out a paragraph rule for them (above and/or below). I've seen fun things when body copy wraps around them.

Oh, the most important thing if it's a template. Use Paragraph Styles.

    • variation/s on a couple of master pages is also a good idea so that the end user doesn't get *too creative* if the original layout isn't enough for their needssausages
    • +1 sausages. And don't forget to set up table styles and graphic styles for objects.MrT
