your take on responsive vs adaptive, and why.
a marketing team emailed my client saying "You do not want to go responsive" and choose the approach of AWD. I tend to disagree with this, what do you guys think?

so everyone thinks adaptive is better?
i always thought it was the other way around
- well on paper maybe, and to mktng team bros. but in practice all responsive is bad ux. it depends. i tend to mix up both like a nerd version of dj qbert.prophetone

The best choice probably depends on the project. Responsive seems easier to develop, but adaptive may be appropriate in some cases where you are delivering a completely different experience desktop vs. mobile.
- exactly, controlled design ftw. as opposed to setting some wide-sweeping RWD rules and letting it explode all over the place.prophetone

And if Google insists on only displaying responsive websites then we got bigger problems... like it's finally curtains for the Space Jam website. :-(

cons of RWD
1. A single website. Having just one website for all devices may be easy for you, but not always for your users. You will often need to put different emphasis on the same page in order to maximize conversions using the advantages of the platform.
2. Technical. As responsive web design is a relatively new technology, there are still some outdated devices with old browsers that will load the website too slowly or even not fully.
3. User Experience. Mobile is a completely different experience than desktop, so having a single, even responsive website, may harm your overall UX on both platforms. If you try to satisfy both mobile and desktop users with the same user interface, you may end up satisfying no one.Cons of adaptive would be?

Screen sizes are constantly changing.
I think prophetone hit the nail on the head with "AWD-determined breakpoints + RWD between breakpoints"
Also depends on the site content and the audience etc. I don't think you need to pick a side here.
