I already have 'smart guides' and 'edges' turned on.

turn off your grid? or turn off "snap to grid"?

^ What MrT said...it's an option for each individul object but the default can be toggled in the Transform palette drop down.

I also found sometimes it won't snap to a point in a grouped object. Smart guides used to be so much smarter.

Aside from unchecking align pixel - are you sure there're no competing elements nearby that are interfering with the alignment mechanic?

the snap-to feature has sucked for so long. one would assume a computer would excel at this kind of thing
- no joke, in the late 90s it was so good, would infer a snappoint you set by hovering across the page. really good shit, and it went away with CSmonospaced

Illustrator's snapping capabilities are just horrible (I was used to Autocad's snap, which is simple, logical and reliable).
- InDesign is better at it, ffsGnash
- InDesign snapping is INCREDIBLE. I wish Illy would adopt whole-shape alignment snapping like that.monospaced
- yet InDesign won't to single point snappingmonospaced
- ^ neither does illy! :)Gnash

Seems like this has been getting worse and worse with each new update. So frustrating!!! Why do adobe have such utter contempt for their users?

If you're on a mac, tyr holing down the command button while dragging it to the point you want it to snap to. Gives you a more accurate snap.
Same works if you want to snap it any part of a line and not just an anchor point.
But even still, the illy snap to point is shite.

I get these problems when I'm zoomed in too tight or working with small elements.
When I run into those issues, I'll just blow the image up work with it at 3 or 4 times the size then scale it down when its done.

Dialogues and stuff are shit in Illy CC. Palette functionality and updating, and wee previews - all borked to a greater or lesser degree.
I really, really, really hate Illy CC, which is a shame because Illy was one of my favourite pieces of software for a good decade.
