Hi QBN, I need a little consulting. I recently received an invitation to enter the A'Design awards contest. I don't have a pulse on the design awards or contest scene and was wondering if this is worth it?
It has an associated registration fee, but that's not much concern to me. I just want to know how 'important' or 'prestigious' this contest is.

Haven't heard of it.
Two questions to ask yourself if you care about awards >
Have you heard of past winners?
Do you respect their work?If yes, and awards matter to you then probably ok to proceed.

I sort of disregarded the initial email, but then I saw the contest pop up on a blog that I follow, here: http://thefoxisblack.com/2015/02…

If no one else has even heard of it then it seems like an automatic pass. I don't really care about awards, and I'm not familiar with any artists in this competition.

There are so many awards out there, it's difficult to know. Especially ones in Italy!
Personally, I look at awards as an ace in your pocket. It might not amount to anything helpful, but it certainly won't hurt. Someday it could be helpful (just like publications, once you have a list it shows something consistent).
I'd enter it if you have something you can just reformat and submit. If you already have it done, what's there to lose?

What you have described is a different from them asking if they can enter your work.
I'd say no.
