The ONE TRUE RULE to advertising as a whole, is Always Be Closing on the next client. The day you win a new client is the same day you start losing them.
At the end of the day, just keep your patron happy for as long as you can, while you try to land a replacement. Trust me, that is exactly what they're doing too. The average Marketing VP lasts for only 2 years, before they're replaced. A new VP usually means account review; sometimes with the incumbent, sometimes without.

1) Get a junior to do it.

First, determine:
Is it a short term marketing campaign with specific sales/busines goals?
or
Is it a long term branding campaign to improve market position?
