Chrome has started to lag indefinitely whenever there's more than a couple of animated gifs on a page.
Was going to mention in the gif thread but I can't fucking use it. Anyone found a solution? Have tried messing with plugins, with no joy.
it's because the gifs are really big now. messing with your video memory. dog-ear as fast as possible
Chrome seems to be degrading with each update in some areas, at least that's my experience.
For me, all my .gifs will lag until ALL of the gifs are fully loaded on the page. Then I do ok, but it's still a little choppy. Gotten that on 3 different computers w/ chrome.
it's a bug since the last version
still, it's better than the HTTPS shite you get with safari and youtube
Yep - this makes the gif page unuseable - have missed it.
Also found a heavy lag on other sites where there is a lot going on (ads, vids, pics). Not as bad though.
Making Chrome unuseable and really don't want to use Safari...
This all started after Yosemite so have a feeling its not all down to Google.
same story here on windows and mac. both systems have 32GB of ram and 4GB Win /2GB Mac video ram. Pretty sure my system can display multiple graphics at once.
When all jiffs are loaded it's fine but until then the whole tab is unusable.
By the time the It's Friday! thread has loaded, it's Saturday afternoon.
Been like that on Mac/Chrome for a couple months now.
Time to come back to Firefox.
Same here and running chrome on different macs with different OSs and lags to hell and freezes sometimes until the all gifs have loaded.
What I don't understand, they were working fine before, why change anything "if it ain't broke don't fix it!!"
I switched over to Safari to try it out and it loads really fast in comparison.
next update may fix this.
chrome is terrible on a mac. switched to safari over a year ago. every time i have to use chrome i cry a little.
I don't if it might an extensions issue, but Chrome has slowed down to how it was before.
I have Chrome beta and the issue is not fixed
I barely visit the animated gif thread because of this. It's really sad. I feel empty inside without it.
If you have an old Mac, Safari and Firefox are way better than Chrome.
