- except the distances don't increase as the lines get thinner, it's the exact opposite actuallymonospaced
- he asked for a perspective effect: 'as the lines become thinner, so does the distance between them'

the 3D rotate tool also lets you preview, so you can quickly find the best way of how fast you want your lines widths to grow

Hey so I'm back! Perspective method didn't work, yeah it was the gaps. What my colleague cleverly suggested was the scale tool. You set the anchor point a fair distance above the thickest line, then shrink slightly.
When you rep[eat the process, the distance to the anchor point and the thickness both decrease incrementally.
Thanks guys!!

Blend might work?
- derp... sorrymonospaced
- yea, blend was my first guessfeel

Why not use the perspective grid?

sounds like a linear halftone gradient -- I probably have that screen from my old stat camera in a box somewhere

create the number of lines you want by using rectangles, instead of lines with a stroke... all evenly sized and spaced (like a 2D stripe pattern),
then use Effect>3D>Rotate ... only rotate around the x (---) axis and play around with the perspectivity sliderexpand later if necessary

did that help ?

You can get near this by creating a blend and replacing the spine inside it.
For the new spine, use a straight path but convert the endpoints with the ^ tool (keep it straight) then adjust the handles which will adjust the spaces. It won't be mathematically correct but it should give the effect.Replacing the spine is on here:

I think the proper way to do this would be with the appearance window, as shown below. It can be a bit tricky at first to work with but very effect full when getting the fell of it

- By that method, offsetting at different distances would be better I thinkmonospaced
- if its more than 5 lines it will take a long time to figure out correct line widths and gaps, and then it would still be estimatesd_gitale
