I'm sure whatever field you're in, you hear the word 'brand' banded about. If have two questions:
1. What do you define a 'brand' as?
2. Who in a business gets to define the brand?

1. The qualities and attributes that the public recognize in a company.
2. Everybody gets to define it. A few people are tasked with managing it.- </ thread>freedom

Great definition.
If a brand is defined by everyone, what should (can) companies do to ensure their 'brand' works?
- live up to expectations, of coursemonospaced
- maintain the brand through great customer experiencesmonospaced

Acknowledge that it is largely driven by public perception. Therefore, more often than not it is better to be grown organically, rather than prescribed in a project launch. It's like growing a tree. Allowing a brand to happen and correcting it here and there allows for more touch points with the public and reinforces that it is not and should not be mandated as part of an executive decision.Company - "We, the company, are X Y and Z." Public - "Huh?"
The above doesn't work as well as:
Public - "They, the company, are Z Y and Z." Company "X and Y on what the public think is correct. We have to do better communicating Z."
