$950K was the highmark in SF. The average says $117k and the low-end is $39k. Seems pretty inline to me. Gotta read them legends.
950k/year and some company benefits, sign me up!
all of it?
''design'' is large...
hmm I'm not sure I agree with the "move to california!" theme of the article. What about cost of living?
that $45k lowest salary in Portland is probably equivalent to the $950k high salary in SF
In the breakdown, it says a mid level designer tops out at $510k while a senior designer tops out at $350k.
Mid-level developer tops out at $950K and a senior level developer tops out at about $190k.
What jr designer has ever made $110,000?
from the comments:
"It is crazy how much traction this has gained. It was an informal and incredibly unscientific survey of a small niche of the design world that are members of Designer News."
Maybe 950k is a typo. I know a mid-sr level designer in SF at google making about $250k and I know someone in NYC who makes around $275k but $400k? hhmm.
People.... the HIGH number is NOT an average high salary. It's the highest *single* surveyed salary. An exception. As I mentioned above, likely Principals/founders etc.
Definitely not in PDX.
irresponsible infographic is irresponsible
Art director making $5000?
