For most of his life, Steve Jobs lived a spartan lifestyle, and his home was never furnished with more than the barest essentials: a chest of drawers and a mattress in his bedroom, a card table and some folding chairs in his dining room for when guests came over.

I just moved for the first time in 14 years. If you have the time I would suggest a proper purge, avoid bringing the stuff you dont need. Hire trusted movers that have more than a few trucks. Put a check list together of all the people/companies that will need your new address. And use this http://www.upack.com/moving-reso…

you're moving into your parents' home or you're moving to another home?
got no advise for the former, as for the latter—definitely get some reputable movers. and give yourself 4 weeks to pack everything so you're not rushing.

Use Upline. I'm in the middle of a move right now and they have been pretty professional. No snags. They have a good reputation and don't break the bank.

Just did it 10 days ago. Moved from the first house we've ever owned. It did not go smoothly. Broke my ankle about 15 hours before our tenants moved into the house. My tip.. don't break your ankle.
But yes.. like everybody else said just purge. Felt so good to get rid of stuff that hasn't seen the light of day in 5 years.

Hire movers... best money you can spend.
Pack your own boxes though like a man.
