I gave up soda and am trying to give up most sugar, but now in the heat, I am getting headaches or really missing the sugar rush.
What are beverages or other things to help me get over this withdrawal? Apples? What's your healthy sugar rush?

Any old fruit juice on the supermarket shelves will pump you more full of sugar than you know what to do with.
- Is that really healthier though?omahadesigns

Just scale it back gradually — transitioning from a high sugar [anti-]diet to a low sugar one quickly will leave you feeling like that.
I wouldn't bother with diet or fake-sugar alternatives, as the way they trick the psychology but not the physicality just leads to problems down the road. Also most of them 'll do more damage to you than just too much sugar.
Try and look into the energy values on your sodas - I now drink a Turkish soft drink (really) that *tastes* a lot sweeter than other sodas I drink, but actually has less sugar in it... all depends upon the balance of sweet vs sour or bitter, etc.
if you drink tea, drink it. A 'sweet' tea will have way less sugar than a not-so sweet soda.

It might be the caffeine you're missing. Try the diet or "zero" versions? Honestly, what's people's big problem with drinking good 'ol water?

I read last week that sugar in natural juice is as bad as sugar in any other treats.
- You mean added sugar, or naturally-occurring sugar?Continuity
- Where teeth are concerned, probably.detritus

Water + cucumber/lemon/mint

If it was cola then the headaches will be caffeine withdrawal.
I'd really suggest home made ice tea with no sugar, just shove some teabags in a jug in the fridge and in a few hours it'll be delicious if the teabags are right.

People forget the most important thing when it comes to health... The PH Level of your body. Fruit juice is highly acidic and if not balanced properly with alkaline food/juice is really rather bad for you.

Cold turkey the sugar withdrawal dude, you'll stop missing it soon enough...
Sparkling mineral water is a good replacement, it has a bite and you can add some flavour with fruit etc

I've read that fruit juice is basically as bad as soda. Fruit without the fiber is just sugar.

@benfall
'there's no such thing as 'good natural sugar''Well, actually, yes there is. Sugar is naturally present in just about every fruit and vegetable you can think of, as well as in meats and grains.
The fact of the matter is: your body needs sugars in certain measures, like it needs other things: vitamins, minerals, fibre, protein, and so on.
Where sugar becomes 'bad' is because of refinement and over-indulgence. Like anything else, in moderation, naturally-occurring sugars are perfectly fine; indeed, absolutely necessary.
Blanket statements about something we've been consuming for who-knows-how-long like 'all sugar is bad', 'butter is bad', bla bla bla piss me the fuck off. Eat everything in fucking moderation, and you might see that most things out there aren't bad, except for processed foods, fried snacks and ready meals.
- Butter, from unpasteurized milk.

I drink water and if I want something flavoured stick a Nuun tablet in there. That might be good for you too as you might be just a bit dehydrated and the tablets help with electrolytes replenishments (as well as vitamins & minerals). http://www.nuun.com
But just go cold turkey on the sodas and always have a few bottles of water chilled in your fridge.
