If I inset a DVD or CDR into my iMac, it tries to read it and then spits it out a few seconds later?
It used to work. I restarted my computer, but no luck. Help?

Any CD/DVD? Or a specific one you're trying to mount?

Any. I've tried a few random ones after the first didn't work.

Could try one of them laser cleaning disc's though I'm not sure if they actually work.
Shame you're not in UK, I have a couple spare Apple DVD drives here I pulled from Macbooks.
- Also don't get it repaired if out of warranty, just buy a USB external DVD/Blu-Ray drive on eBay. Will be much cheapersem

I had the same problem for years and had completely given up on my Superdrive. I fixed it by taking a thin micro-fibre cloth (the kind you'd use to clean eyeglasses). Wrap the cloth around a credit card and just jam it into the slot and move it around. Repeat a couple times.
I hadn't used my superdrive in years, so I figured it's not like I could do any further damage. Works great now.
