Will be there this weekend. Can anybody recommend restaurants, cultural activities, bars / clubs, after-hours stuff?
Danke.

If the weather is nice you could go to the 'Englischer Garten' for the beer and food experience, plus relaxation.
- that does look like a great place to do nothing. However, lack of time dictates that there won't be much sitting around, unfortunatelyFax_Benson

friend from munich told me about the 'Die längste Nacht der Münchner Clubs' this friday 30.5., it's a clubhopping event in different clubs with shuttle buses. again, no idea if it's good, but sounds good if you want to discover the nightlife.

There's an old industrial site right next to the Ostbahnhof that's been turned into a collection of connected clubs/bars/strip clubs:

the website apparently is only in german. been there, was fun to just wander in and out of joints, and it's easy to get to. that was years ago, though. large variety of music and stuff going on.- Had heard of kultfabrik - isn't it a bit tacky / commercial?Fax_Benson

why not go to the karl valentin museum that's right in the Isartor?
it's probably the most incomprehensible piece of munich you'd be able to access. it's a great little time capsule from the 20s/30s, about this husband/wife vaudeville comedian team, and it has a great little octagonal cafe at the top with excellent views.http://www.turmstüberl.de/mediap…...

englischer garten has a beer garden, right by the chinese tower.
i wouldn't stress it too much, just go where there's people, have a sit, have a weissbeer and a weisswurst or leberkäs, fun is where you find it

So how was it? :)

IMO, the biergarten on Wiener Platz in Haidhausen is the best in the city. Very much local, barely any tourists.
But, hey, I'm biased: I used to live in the neighbourhood.

It was good, thanks.
Didn't have as much time as I'd hoped (too much beer, not enough culture). Tried kultfabrik, Harry Klein and a few beer gardens, restaurants.
