I don't print too often at home, but when I do, all of a sudden the immediate area is full of a musky smell.
It's a black and white printer and I'm using a bootleg Brother toner. Is this normal?

toner is carcinogenic micro dust basicaly, put printers in a seperate vented room and stay out most of the time is what we do

yeah sorry :) I read that, I mean the carcinogenic link is not sure but the dust particles are bad for lungs ... ventilate or put in a cupboard ;)

Open the printer and smell the tonner, if its the toner that stinks replace it with a new one, and before you buy it try sniffing it.
Must be fresh.
