PRAGUE
+ Very cheap food and drink, good beer, all kinds of food
+ Easy to get around (physically), you can see most of the city on foot if you want because it isn't all that big
+ Architecture, sculpture well worth gawking at
– Tourists and tourist-aimed businesses *everywhere* in Old and Lesser Town (want to know how many metres away the nearest McDonald's or KFC is? There are signs.)
– Difficult to get around (navigationally) as street signs are few and far between in Old and Lesser TownWish I'd gotten to the hills west of the river.
Stayed at the Ibis Praha Wenceslas Square, and would recommend it (clean, modern, no hassles, far enough from the tourists but close enough to walk).
VIENNA
+ Easy to get around by walking or subway
+ You could spend a week just at the Museumsquartier (I almost splooshed walking into the Kunsthistorisches Museum)
+ Architecture and sculpture more impressive than Prague (better preserved, integrated with modern use)
+ Interesting local graffiti style (wish I'd taken video from the train ride in)
+ Good parks and public spaces for hanging out
– Same problem with street signs
– City seems to shut down early on Saturdays and entirely on SundaysDidn't make it to the Danube, but I'll go next time because the place is awesome and I'd move there tomorrow if I could.
Stayed at the Westbahn Hotel and would recommend against it (old, dirty, crappy over all)

@Vienna: All around the Donaukanal, near the Flex-Club. Many good places to eat, drink, dance and spray graffiti.

In Vienna there are too many spots to mention : Cabaret fledermaus , Luftbad, Arena, .. check out Klimt in the Belvedere . Drink coffee

KGB museum, run by a crazy Russian bloke who is worth the entrance fee alone.

seconded on that museum of communisim. also just cross the river and climb up to the castle by way of the north east side, you get a couple really great views of the city.

Vienna has good taste in electronic music (esp D'n'B) and they have hard doors!

I used to live in Prague in the seventies.
Strahov Library is always worth a visit. The modern art museum which used to house the secret police. Hradcany castle. The Ziskov TV tower. The Jewish cemetery. Franz Kafka cafe. Church of St. Cyril where Heydrich's assassins killed themselves after being trapped by the Nazis. The village of Lidice on the outskirts of Prague is a depressing visit for its history.Don't know shit about Vienna.
