I'm due for a new laptop. Wondering what working on a retna is like for web, video, and some print.

just bought a refirb two weeks ago (grrr...) and it's awesome! so much screen space because of the mass of pixels. the solid state drive and lack of disk drive makes it soooo quiet, I hardly know it's on.
I find myself zooming into websites a lot to make the text readable since it gets pretty small if your settings are set for 'more space'
I was debating between the 15 and the 13, and ended up going with the 13 because the retina screen gives so much space.
I would still recommend going with a refirb as the spec's didn't jump much and it will save you a few hundred $'s.

OH crap the ram is soldered so I HAVE to configure it with 16gigs.

I was using a 15" Pro Retina with an external display since November last year, up until last week. Just left my job so I had to give it up :(
Anyway, the computer was a beast. I maxed out the ram at 16GB of course. Great machine. Only downside was the battery life, in particular when playing video. The new Intel chip should improve battery life by a lot though.
Now I'm wondering if the new 13" will be powerful enough if I max out the processor and the ram? Only reason I'm looking at the 13" now is for portability. I'm planning to sell my 2009 iMac and buy a second-hand 30" display to use as an external.

It looks like you can only configure the 13" with "Intel Iris Graphics"
Whassup wit dat?
- They really shouldn't call it a Pro model, should they?monospaced
- Pro is the person that uses it, all laptops are facebook machines these daysMiguex
- I mean, the Pro moniker used to be for the machines that were used by people doing more pro workmonospaced
- dedicated chips for video guys, etc, not just Facebook stuffmonospaced
- Pro was always for people who wanted to pay for a Pro badge.shaft
- @shaft, I don't know if you're joking or what, but I hope you know that isn't truemonospaced
