i'm off to St Petersburg for a few days - anyone got any recommendations of places to go/eat/see that are off the beaten track?
City in Florida?
If you can hook up with a walking tour of the residential courtyards (locally called 'wells'), do it. I went with a couple of people, lasted about 3 or 4 hours, and it was great fun. Some of these courtyards in residential blocks are amazing; there was one that was Alice in Wonderland-themed, another covered in mosaic ... great stuff.
Don't get too close to the canals when walking around, jetski riders are making tourists wet for fun, at least in summer - don't know about now..
Definitely go see the Peterhof Palace, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet… Also pack warm clothes – the climate is far from friendly in the beautiful city of Ленинград. Hermitage is one of the major russian museums worth paying a visit. You will probably cross (a couple of times) the Field of Mars, also a milestone of the city. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fie…)
I won't be able to recommend you anything regarding clubs and nightlife, but there must be plenty of them. Also – girls. :)
