you want to build traffic to it.

depends entirely on the type of site, if it's selling something, who its audience is, etc

hit forums, message boards, news articles and comment the shit out of your site.
post a question on ask.com answer it with your site.
SEO on the site from the top down. submit to google webmaster. create a sitemap.
you need inbound links. i get inbound links on my site, because everytime someone embeds instagram my link is in the embed ;)
*source: google "embed instagram", out of 100,000,000 results im the second result, it took me a month to get there. also on the first page for "embed" out of 1 billion results :)
- create a blog. give your site title/page titles words relevant to search queries you want to capture.rabbit
- post a shameless self promotion on here. blogs get indexed by google fast.rabbit
- submit a press release to a company that releases to your target audience. should cost about $50.rabbit
- add 'addthis' to your site so it can be shared on social channels.rabbit
- adwords. lol. this shit works but is expensive as hell if you are not selling anything and get lots of hitsrabbit

Post good content, post link on your personal social media and maybe send a newsletter announcement to everyone you know.
Shameless self promotion is lame. Knowing people and having good content will spread it to the right people for you.

i used something random like a golf dvd or some type of product...
my thoughts are youtube channel and start posting short videos (1-3 min long with awesome content and a call to action back to your site)
