http://www.flickr.com/photos/stu…Shameless self plug. Been messing with 3d printing for about a year and a half now. A bit of a learning curve, but im super glad i started teaching myself 3d modeling when i did.
You all may have seen some of this work, as i often post it here as i complete it.

@ baseline,
what kind of printer do you have?- he has stated he uses http://www.shapeways…albums
- thanks didn't see the msgGeorgesIV
- Yup, shapeways. More expensive per print, but MUCH higher quality than i could ever afford in my own machine.baseline_shift

"A masters student at the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles has developed a method of using a robotic arm to 3D print objects in a tank of gel, allowing freeform printing without the need for support structures and potentially adding an "undo" function to remove errors.
The gel supports the liquid resin deposited by the robot while it hardens, overcoming a shortcoming of other 3D printing technologies, where structures to prevent the objects from collapsing need to be printed along with the objects themselves."
http://vimeo.com/user13350476/su…
"The process also allows for vector-based printing, meaning the print head can move in three dimensions rather than having to build up objects from extremely thin two-dimensional layers."
The video doesn't show what the machine actually made, removed form the gel, which is kind of stupid.
