as per my fb post, in brisbane, we don't work nearly this hard. but surely the culture and expectation is there. sad thing is that people in advertising don't speak up.

in the office every day until 11pm for a month - you're very lucky if you work in the design industry and haven't experienced that.
reading a bit more about it... seems to have been catching up on work after taking a week off complaining of 'gastro-intestinal discomfort', discharged from hospital (hospitals often disregard the symtoms of heart problems due to patient age... happens all the time, everywhere) was waiting for further checkups... very unfortunate.

oh yeah? lets see your sources.

hah @ "lets see your sources"... lets see yours! (other than a fucking headline based on twitter speculation - and an article with no substance)
- actually read the original interview with his supervisor google translate... this is a decent summarykingsteven

I don't think being at work too long caused this heart attack.
- don't think = doubtmonospaced
- I wonder too. I work with people who are in the office 19+ hours a day. They're still alive.Gucci
- I know people who just go home and do more work after work. I often do. This just can't be Ogilvy's fault in my opinionmonospaced
- 19 hrs a day! Wow I bet they have a great life. Well done.qTime
- It's their choice, really. Pretty crazy.Gucci
- I wouldn't convict them of murder, but maybe a good kick in the balls is in order.CyBrainX

How many hours a day does the typical African child miner work?

Its sad to see the lack of workers rights in these companies.
- You mean China?monospaced
- Well that depends, it feels like everyone is in a race to the bottom at the moment.qTime
- Well, I think it's safe to say that Ogilvy China is different that Ogilvy NYC because of worker's rights in each countrymonospaced

I've done that before, however each of us react differently under pressure. Some are far more sensitive and take prescription drugs and others may have some type of heart condition that don't even know about. It could be many things. But, like qTime said everyone is in a race to the bottom at the moment. Sad news. I could imagine that happening in the states.
- How could you pinpoint the cause of a heart attack when there are so many possible factors?CyBrainX

+1 for Advertising!

Commence the damage control PR "We lost one of our own" messages, as if they cared to begin with.

"We've lost a young partner forever due to a sudden illness" - Ogilvy
LOL - He was a young partner!

"We lost one of our own"
Now please get back to your desk and work as we have one less person on the team

This is terrible. I'd think this poor guy would get more sympathy from people in his field that had experienced similar conditions.
