wordpress import problem

Hi,
I have updated a client wordpress site with a new theme and page structure and content on a different install for development. I now want to add all of her blog content to it. Text works fine with the import/export tool but for some reason it is not bringing in any of her attached content such as galleries. Any ideas?
I have read the import function is temperamental but there isn't much point in it if it won't import all content.
Is there a quick way of doing this?
Or should I just apply all the changes I have made (and new theme) to her existing site? Which means it will be down for a few hours...
Hence why I did it the other way as I can just switch the new one on quickly when she is ready to go live.
Any pointers or tips to solve this issue would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you have access to the raw MySQL database on the old and new hosting spots? Best way to transfer, in my opinion, is to duplicate the database (export old one from phpMyAdmin or whatever, drop all the tables in the new one, then import the old database to the new database to setup the clone).
Once it's cloned, your paths will still be wrong (pointing to the old paths) so I use this script: http://pastebin.com/yPs6eCrU
1. Upload the script to your root directory on the NEW wordpress site
2. run the script
3. go through the steps until the search/replace page
4. search for the old path (ie dev.yoursite.com/wordpress) and replace with the new path (www.yoursite.com) and it will go through and make the appropriate changes.First time you do it you'll likely be careful so it will take longer, but I can honestly get a full wordpress duplicate setup in under a minute. The only part that takes long is re-uploading the files if you have to go to a different server entirely (instead of just moving to a new path on the same server).

Oh, and 5 - delete that transfer script from the server. It's a huge security breach while it's there since it's able to make changes to the database. Once you delete it, you're secure as the wind in .. uh... november...
6. if you're worried about your site being hacked while that script is uploaded (should only be in effect for under 5 minutes, honestly) just name it something only you would know. then you minimize the risk of it being run from an outside source.

That won't work - I only want to import the blog posts not all content - the new site has different structure and page content...
Thanks for your reply though - appreciated.

Anybody?
I just need to import blog posts from old wordpress site into new site. I have managed to get all the posts text to import but the associated images and galleries are not importing.
Doing my nut in.
