  Took it to apple - they cleaned the inside - plugged in at the apt and it still smells slightly..

  Guy at work said this happened to all the older white macbooks in the editorial dept some years back.

  System is fine, no "working" issues, just smells like Funk.

Dude kept sniffing the upper left corner over and over again saying "Yeah, I'm getting something, it definitely smells, I am getting something here" - needless to say, there were some looks from people next to me so I attempted to stay on the DL.   Is it possibly an overheating power supply or video card that's singing/melting the plastic case? This was a problem on some MBPs awhile back, but their aluminum cases just got hot, not stinky.

  could be old part being heated and cooled. how old is your mac? if there are any rubber, plastic parts this could be it. also moisture build up also then the fan blows it out.

  That happened to mine - i sold it. Got more money for it than I would have normally because I said it was the iMac of weatherman Al Roker, who we all know sweats profusely.
