I own 2 guns. I do not hunt they are locked up in my bedroom.

@rson, can you explain why you have them though? Like what is their purpose... what will cause you to unlock them & bring them out?
- rson0
@mantrakid I live in Philadelphia there are about 20 break ins each summer in my hood. I would unlock them if some broke into my house. I do not think I would fire. More of a scare tactic.

@mantrakid Plus you live in Canada. Sorry to say the cites in the states are a little rougher. Not to say your country does not have crime. You just do not have a fucked up history as we do.

@rson, yeah i know exactly what you mean. I was honestly just trying to understand the reasoning - it's hard to relate living in a place where i forget to lock my front door before going to bed sometimes.

My friend had a crackhead pull a knife on him at a gas station. He has a concealed carry permit and pulled out his gun.
The crackhead ran off.
Tell me again why I should not own a gun, and people are nutjobs for wanting one.
- +1rson
- Because there are too many nutjobs that have them.fyoucher1
- That's why you should have one too. =) Level the playing field.Frosty_spl
- So we all need guns and anyone should have the capacity to kill someone anytime?newuser
- With better drug programs and mental health programs we can lower the number of crackheads.newuser
- Having an armed society is not good for society.newuser

A "nice to have" but unnecessary for life. Law Enforcement, military, yeah. Too bad a few bad eggs f-ed it up for the decent gun-totin citizens. Killing children needs to stop now, and one way to help is to get rid of guns. The CT incident can't happen again. Just can't, at whatever cost. It's selfish for gun activists to think otherwise. I'm really disgusted that some folks cite the 2nd amendment and then argue a coming 2nd American Revolution bullshit and that they need em' for protection when the intruder comes in. The 2nd amendment happened a couple hundred years ago. Time to make a change for the better.
Then they argue about how criminals will still get guns. Yeah, initially. Then supply and demand will kick in, making them crazy ass expensive. Or lets make bullets ridiculously expensive. That'll cut down death by firearm by a silly amount. Why wouldn't a country want that?

I understand the idea of self-protection. I get that. I'm all for that, just not with guns. Fact is, that most illegally-owned guns come from legally-purchased owners at some point. The idea behind banning them is to get them all off the street at some point in time and to avoid mass killings. Yeah, it'll take a long ass time for that to happen. Mass killings and children being killed by guins NEED to stop and on the contrary, you don't NEED a gun.
Re: Frosty_spl: As far as having a gun when someone pulls a knife on you, your friend was lucky. There's probably a good chance that most folks would have a knife in their neck when they attempted to pull their gun out. Or, you can carry a knife for self-protection. Level-the playing field.
