" What the 48 frame-per-second projection actually means is flat lighting, a plastic-y look, and, worst of all, a strange sped-up effect that makes perfectly normal actions—say, Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins placing a napkin on his lap—look like meth-head hallucinations. Jackson seems enamored of 48 fps, but I can't imagine why. To me, it turned the film into a 166-minute long projectionist's error. I wanted to ask the projectionist to double-check the equipment, but really, I should just ask Jackson why he wanted his $270 million blockbuster to look like a TV movie."
Ouch!

Question....Do you have to see it in a special theater to get the 48FPS?
How do you know?
- Only a few have the right gear to project 48fps decently.ApeRobot
- Most digital projectors that they use are capable of projecting at 48fps, if not much much higher ratesmonospaced

There are lists online of theaters that run the movie at 48 fps, I googled it and found the list of Spain so I'm sure a bit of searching will get you the same info for your country.

I just saw the movie here in Turkey and we were all forced to watch it in 3D. I hate the 3D bullshit but I sat through it nevertheless. The 3D glasses have dark lenses so the entire time I felt like it was too dark. I would rather watch it on BlueRay on my home system. PLus was it filmed in 3D? I heard only movies filmed in 3D look good in 3D like Avatar.
I'm not a big fan of the fantasy sci-fi stuff so I don't have much to add as far as a review.

Thought it was pretty great...not as epic as lotr...but still a fun time. Effects are even better than last time.

orcs look well different. maybe the influence of sauron makes them more gross.
cant help but think the film ends in the same way the first lotr film does... running out of a cave

cant help but think the film ends in the same way the Prometheus film does...
anyway, the movie it's about jews..
Dwarf Kingdom = Solomon's Temple
The Lonely Mountain or Erebor = The Temple Mount
Gandalf = Moses
the dwarves = the jewsfrom wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J...
"Tolkien vocally opposed Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party prior to the Second World War. In 1938, the publishing house Rütten & Loening Verlag was preparing to release The Hobbit in Nazi Germany."My rating: 8.2

@trooperbill
Even though Orcs and goblins are the same race, Tolkien seems to make subtle indications that they are different lineages or tribes of the same breed, and the Orcs of LoTR are more fierce. People who study Tolkien feel it was less intentional and more evolutionary, as he preferred the term Orcs over goblins by the time he wrote LoTR and wanted them even more fierce than described in the Hobbit.
