But yeah, Edinburgh is compact and you can walk most places. More expensive than Glasgow but cheaper than London.

What does he do for a living?
Avg. Rent - For a nice flat with 2 beds and in the city centre / leith you'd be about £750-£950
Council Tax - It depends on where you are in the city and your size of property. Average about £200-250 p/m

Buses are £2 per journey any distance I think. You can get cards to get you a few quid off each month. Edinburgh is very walk-able and cycle-able (as long as you don't mind steep hills).
If you've got a car and want to park it in the City Centre you'll be about £250 per year for a parking permit.
http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info…As with any city it has expensive areas, restaurants, bars etc but equally it has cheaper places - after all Edinburgh has plenty of uni's and students to keep happy.
Very nice city to live and work in.
